To call abroad
With Siminn you get a high quality international connection by using the 00 prefix when calling international numbers.
The 1100 prefix can be used if more importance is placed on price than quality. Rates are typically 15 - 45% lower by using the 1100 prefix. All calls go through our telephone exchanges.
There are two ways to use 1100:
- You can register your number for the service and call directly abroad using the 1100 prefix
- You can sign up for a PIN number and use whatever telephone to make your own low priced calls abroad
The PIN number can also be used for the Iceland Direct service which is used for call Icelandic numbers from abroad economically.
Overseas numbers - 1811
By calling 1811 you can get information on telephone numbers and fax numbers from multilingual operators. By calling 1811 you can also make collect calls and be connected to international numbers
To call Iceland from abroad
When calling from abroad the number for directory enquirees (118) is +354 8090 118.
When calling Iceland from abroad use the relevant prefix, the country code for Iceland (354 and a seven letter phone number). Commonly the prefix is 00 but for example in the United States and Canada the prefix is 011. When you are calling from a mobile phone to Iceland you can select the country code (+354) and the phone number.
